Članovi Udruge “Naš zavičaj” Marijan Huljak iz Stubičkih Toplica, Josip Risek iz Kuzminca i Stjepan Šalamon iz Velike Vesi, ujedno predsjednik udruge, obavili su sanaciju slamnatog krova na “Gupčevoj hiži”. Radove su obavili na poziv Božidara Sačera i mještana Hižakovca, inače rodnog mjesta Matije Gupca. U okviru sanacije izradili su i postavili slamnate sljemenjake, koji su nedostajali na najstarijoj tradicijskoj kući koja je prekrivena škopom u Hižakovcu.
Ovi su radovi obavljeni u sklopu projekta “Da se prošlost ne zaboravi”, kojim Udruga “Naš zavičaj” provodi edukacijski tečaj za izradu slamnatih krovova pod nazivom “Škop” s ciljem očuvanja ovog tradicijskog i zanata.
