Sinoć u 19 sati gradonačelnik Zlatara Stanko Majdak, dogradonačelnica Jasenka Auguštan Pentek, pročelnik dr. Mladen Krušelj, te predsjednik Krunoslav Klancir i članovi Gradskoga vijeća, kojima se pridružila i nekolicina građana, na Trgu slobode, ispred župne Crkve Uznesenja Blažene Djevice Marije, zapalili su lampione u znak sjećanja na žrtvu Vukovara. Krapinsko-zagorska županija osigurala je 24 simbolična lampiona, po jedan za svaku godinu od pada Vukovara, koji su zapaljeni u središtima jedinica lokalne samouprave Krapinsko-zagorske županije. Izgledom i izradom podsjećaju na vukovarski vodotoranj, koji i danas nedirnut stoji kao simbol ratnog razaranja grada na Dunavu.
A na središtu Trga paljenjem svijeća, uz natpis Vukovar, Dan sjećanja obilježili su i učenici zlatarske Osnovne škole Ante Kovačića.
